On 'good-byes'

After Miriam’s remark in an earlier post – I  came across this qoute by the Dr.: “Would you like to be rid of this spiritual depression? The first thing you have to do is to say farewell now once and forever to your past. Realize that it has been covered and blotted out in Christ. Never look back at your sins again. Say: ‘It is finished, it is covered by the blood of Christ.’ That is your first step. Take that and finish with yourself and all this talk about goodness, and look to the Lord Jesus Christ. It is only then that true happiness and joy are possible for you.”

  1. The verse ‘The joy of the Lord is your strength’ is quoted often in German and usually in the wrong context. The German actually says the ‘joy at the Lord’, so the German speakers usually use this verse assuming that we should just be delighted about the Lord and everything will be fine. Yesterday, I realised again that it’s much more than that! It’s the joy coming from inside because of Jesus! I can’t produce that joy myself.

  2. … I forgot to say that Cristi’s comment encouraged me not to look back to my ‘sins’ and mistakes. I tend to do that often and then I stop moving on!
Last week, I read a quote from a German lady and she stresses that we should allow God to close the door of bad memories…
